Commissioner Preeda and representatives from the Foundation for the Better Life of Children visited and observed the closure of Sai Mai Construction Workers Camp to gather data on human rights impacts in the COVID-19 situation

          On 2 July 2021, Ms. Preeda Kongpaen, National Human Rights Commissioner together with Ms. Thongpoon Buasri from the Foundation for the Better Life of Children and the competent officials of the office of National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) visited the area to observe the construction workers camp that was locked down on Sukhapiban 5 Road, O Ngoen Sub-district, Sai Mai District, Bangkok to facilitate assistance in finding the solutions for the challenges of caring for construction workers, comprising migrant workers and Thai workers, particularly children and pregnant women whose human rights might be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
          The National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) will gather data and facts to prepare recommendations on human rights in the pandemic situation and submit them to the government and relevant agencies.
