The new National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT)

            The new National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) with Ms. Pornprapai Ganjanarintr as the Chairperson and five other Commissioners who are Mrs. Preeda Kongpaen, Mr. Suchart Setthamalinee, Ms. Sayamol Kaiyoorawong, Ms. Pitikan Sithidej and Mr. Wasan Paileeklee started to perform duties on 31 May 2021. There was a ceremony to receive the Royal Command appointing to the position and afterwards the Commission met the executives of the Office of the NHRCT for briefings including the pending works to continue and to discuss the issues of priority.
            Ms. Ganjanarintr emphasized that human rights start at home and encouraged staff members to work happily respecting human rights and dignity of each other to reach the goal in promoting and protecting human rights of all peoples in the country.
            The newly appointed NHRCT is the fourth Commission since the establishment of the national human rights institution in Thailand. Under the 2017 Constitution, the NHRCT is the independent constitutional organization with 7 Commissioners, and the Selection Committee is in the process to select the seventh Commissioner.
