Re: Draft of the Thai Constitution related to the Chapter 2: Rights and Liberties of Thai People

20 April, 2015, the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) has an administrative meeting No. 11/2558 considering the dissemination of the draft of the Thai Constitution through many platforms of public media.

The NHRCT has considered and had resolution that the draft of the Thai constitution related to the Chapter 2: Rights and Liberties of Thai People, Part 1: General Provisions, Part 2: Human Rights and Part 3: Civil Rights are concerned about the principles of human rights and civil rights. The draft might be incorrect and different. Importantly, this is likely affected to the rights and incompatible with the international human rights obligation where Thailand has been bounded.

In this regard, the NHRCT has assigned the working group to study the draft of Thai constitution by focusing on human rights only and to propose the recommendations to the Constitution Drafting Committee and the National Reform Council accordingly.
