From the incident of explosion behind the Ta Paed train station and in front of a grocery store in Pak Bang, The Pha, Songkhla province, on 19th April 2016, the blast killed 1 person and wounded 14 people, including an 11-year-old boy. Furthermore, this blast caused damages to government properties and people, as it appears as news.

Mr. Chartchai Suthiklom, NHRCT Commissioner, as the Chairperson of the Sub-Commission on Human Rights in Southern Border Provinces, says that the National Human Rights Commission has been concerned about the violent situation occurring in the area of southern border provinces and followed up the situation, especially the violence affecting innocent people with explosive devices for a while.  Therefore, the NHRCT strongly condemned the one who created violence in the public area that widely causes negative effects. Such violence is considered the serious violation of human rights with cruelty and inhumanity. All this, related agencies are asked to accelerate the investigation process to take offenders to trial.

Mrs. Angkhana Neelapaijit, NHRCT Commissioner, as the Vice-Chairperson of the Sub-Commission on Human Rights in Southern Border Provinces, added that many incidents of explosion occurring in the same period of time were the making of fear among people. The government is therefore asked to ensure safety to the people by providing the opportunity for the civil society to participate in the recommendation process. Also, the assistance, rehabilitation and remedies should urgently and fairly be given to relatives of dead people and injured persons by following the prescribed criteria. Ultimately, we would like to encourage officers together with people in the area with good morale to do their duties and peacefully living in order to bring back peace and order to southern border provinces as soon as possible.
