Press Release
Explosion at Taba School in Tak Bai District in Narathiwat Province

From the incident of explosion in front of Taba School in Tak Bai district in Narathiwat province, on 6th September 2016. The blast caused 3 dead people, including 4-year-old kindergarten pupil and her father, and wounded 9 people, including 5 police officers directing traffic around the area.

The NHRCT Chairperson deemed that the terrorist had chosen to plant an explosive device the front area of the school where should be the violence-free area under any circumstance. The school near the explosion has pupils from kindergarten to junior high school (Grade 9) and there were many pupils and their parents around such area where was fit to be the target. The troublemaker aimed for the result of devastation to lives and bodies of children, their parents and passers around such area.  Thus, this is the reflection of cruelty and inhumanity of the troublemaker without any realization of right to life and body of innocent people. Also, this is the serious violation of human rights.

NHRCT Chairperson offered his condolences to the incident and relatives of casualties of such incident. However, violent situations continuously occurring in southern border provinces cannot solely be managed by the security measure of the public sector.   Thus, people in the area should be aware of the situation and inform any strangeness or suspect to public office in order to support the prevention measure provided by public officers.
