The appointment of National Human Rights Commissioners ad interim

                On Friday, 1 November 2019, the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court jointly appointed persons to perform duties as National Human Rights Commissioners ad interim according to Articles 60 (3) and 22 of the Organic Act on National Human Rights Commission B.E. 2560 (2017). The appointees are as follows:
                                1. Mr. Somn Promaros
                                2. Ms. Areewan Chatutong
                                3. Ms. Pirom Sriprasert
                                4. Mr. Suwat Theparak
                On Wednesday, 6 November 2019, the first working day after the long weekend, the Office of the National Human Rights Commission held a meeting between the National Human Rights Commissioners and the National Human Rights Commissioners ad interim for briefings on general business and pending tasks which legally require quorum of the Commission to make decisions such as draft reports on the investigation of human rights violations, the draft annual situation report 2019, the alternative report to be submitted to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD).
                Mr. What Tingsamitr, the Chairperson, expressed his appreciation to the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the President of the Supreme Administrative Court for the appointment of the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand a.i., which greatly helps reduce the duty backlog to promote and protect human rights in the country.
