NHRCT DISCUSSED ROYAL THAI POLICE IN COORDINATING THE PROTECTION OF RIGHT IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE

           On July 2, B.E. 2564 [2021], the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) led by Miss Pornprapai Ganjanarintr, Chairperson, along with Mr.Suchart Setthamalinee, Miss Sayamol Kaiyoorawong, Miss Pitikan Sithidej and Mr. Wasan Paileeklee, Commissioners, met with Pol.Gen. Suwat Jangyodsuk, the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, and Pol.Gen. Dumrongsak Kittipraphat and Pol.Gen. Piya Uthayo, the Deputy Commissioner Generals of the Royal Thai Police, to discuss cooperation between the two agencies and to coordinate the protection of the right in the administration of justice.
           Miss Pornprapai Ganjanarintr, the Chairperson, revealed following the consultation with the Commissioner General and the Deputy Commissioner Generals that there were complaints received by the NHRCT claiming that their right in the administration of justice has been violated, particularly by inquiry officers under the responsibility of the Royal Thai Police. The NHRCT has concerns, such as on delays in the investigation resulting in the accused to be detained before trial losing benefits to which they are entitled under the law.
           In addition, the NHRCT also discussed with the Royal Thai police on issues to strengthen public justice, and ways to cooperate in improving the protection of people’s right in the administration of justice in a systematic and efficient manner. 
           “The NHRCT thanks the Royal Thai Police for their recognition and readiness to support and cooperate with us to protect people’s right in justice system." said the Chairperson.
