The Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions - APF

                    The APF was established in humble circumstances in 1996 when four national human rights institutions met in Darwin, Australia.

                    This first regional meeting brought together the national human rights commissions of Australia, India, Indonesia and New Zealand, along with a number of regional governments and non-governmental organisations.

                    The Larrakia Declaration, adopted at the conclusion of that meeting, outlined two primary objectives for the new organisation:
                    - to provide support to governments in the region to establish and develop national human rights institutions, and
                    - to expand mutual support, cooperation and joint activity among member institutions.

                    The APF is a regional, member-based organisation made up of national human rights institutions from across the Asia Pacific. It currently has 15 full members and six associate members. The full members are the national human rights institutions that comply with the international standards set out in the Paris Principles. The Associate members are the national human rights institutions which currently do not comply with the Paris Principles. NHRCT is one of the full members.

                   The Southeast Asia National Human Rights Institutions Forum (SEANF), is a sub-regional network of six National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) namely the Indonesian National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHRP), the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRCT) and Provedor de Direitos Humanos e Justica (PDHJ) of Timor Leste.

                   As a sub-regional network, SEANF seeks to promote and protect human rights in South East Asia through collaborative framework – undertake joint projects or activities to address issues of common concern such as human trafficking, migrant workers, statelessness, business and human rights, as well as Indigenous Peoples.

                    The International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions, sometimes shortened to the International Coordinating Committee (ICC), is a global network of national human rights institutions (NHRIs) - administrative bodies set up to promote, protect and monitor human rights in a given country. The ICC, whose full legal title is the "International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights", coordinates the relationship between NHRIs and the United Nations human rights system, and is unique as the only non-UN body whose internal accreditation system, based on compliance with the 1993 Paris Principles, grants access to UN committees. Institutions accredited by the ICC with "A status", meaning full compliance with the Paris Principles, are usually accorded speaking rights and seating at human rights treaty bodies and other UN organs. The ICC representative often presents statements on behalf of individual NHRIs or the regional groups.

                    Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF) is one of the four  Regional groupings of NHRIs and Thailand is a member of APF.
